Quad 405-2 and Quad 34 Additional Upgrades. When having your Quad 405-2 upgraded there is an additional modification available at no extra charge. This modification decreases the gain of the 405-2 op amp stage. This further improves the signal to noise ratio and overall distortion level of the 405-2. The Quad 405-2 input sensitivity is increased from .5V to 1.5V for full output. This also means you may use (heaven forbid) other modern pre-amps with the 405-2 and even connect a CD player variable output directly to the 405-2. Complementary modification to the Quad 34 and Quad 66 is also available by increasing its output to a nominal 1.6V, thus matching with the 405-2. The Quad 44 already has a 1.6V output as standard. These modifications are available at no extra charge when having your 34 or 405-2 upgraded, and provide a further significant improvement in listening quality. |
