Tuning Se Taire Golden Ears Platforms The Se Taire Golden Ears platforms may be tuned to the environment in which they are placed. Basically this tuning consists of varying the number of pads used on the intermediate platform. Varying the number of pads changes the isolation characteristics of the platform. The best way to tune the platform is through listening tests. Start with all the supplied pads in place (do not remove the paper backing on the pads at this stage), choose one or two pieces of music and listen. Reduce the number of pads then listen to the same music again. Keep performing the tests and removing or adding pads and listening to the results. Once the optimum number of pads has been determined, they may then be permanently fixed in place, if required, by removing the backing paper and sticking the pads to the intermediate platform. To obtain the best results there are some limitations to the minimum number of pads that may be used, based on the weight of the equipment involved. The following limits are a guide, however do not grossly overload the pads by reducing the total number too far. Also ensure that the pads are not so deformed that the main platform is touching the screws holding the bumpers in place, as this will render the intermediate pads completely ineffective.
note - the numbers are the total number of pads in use, so 4 pads means 2 on each intermediate platform. Also note the maximum weight of the equipment is limited to 50 lbs (22.7kg). When laying out the pads on the intermediate platform the following pictures should be used as a guide to the positions of the pads depending on the number in use. The platforms are normally supplied with 12 pads, if your equipment is very heavy please request additional pads when ordering.
